Assignment #8 - Subject Analysis

In the last video lesson, I talked about the importance of considering the nature of the subject itself and letting it help direct your lighting and artistic decisions. It can be tempting to get excited about the lighting setup and forget how much the subject can play a factor in whether or not the lighting setup will work for the image.

So that's why, for this assignment, you're going to a subject analysis for the brief that was given to you in the last assignment.

You may have already done this to an extent during your brainstorming, but now, you're going to take this a step further. This will be about getting closer to finalizing the first draft of your idea for the orange juice company. If you already found a solid idea about what you want to do during the brainstorming stage, I would still encourage you to take this step and see if any new ideas pop up for you and would want to refine in your plan.

With that said, here's your assignment:

Do a subject analysis for the photo you are going to take for the orange juice company. Describe the elements of the subject and then let that guide you in deciding what kind of lighting setup you would want to go for in the image.

Remember, you're not coming up with a final draft just yet, this is just subject analysis and letting further ideas come to mind as you think about this. You can post your sketches or written descriptions in the Discord server.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
